Eric Holstman,
Captain and Professor at Redfish University
Eric Holstman, your professor and host, is the television host of the popular fishing show “Sportsman’s Challenge” on ESPN2 and is a seasoned professional tournament angler on the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup and FLW Redfish Series. He has over 40 years of angling experience locally, regionally, statewide, the Southeastern United States from south Texas to The Keys to North Carolina, Canada (Nova Scotia), the Caribbean, Latin America, Iceland, Scandinavia and other fishing destinations around the globe. He also has a successful background in competitive bass fishing. He has appeared as a special guest on several national fishing shows and documentaries over the past ten years. In 2006, he ended the Redfish Cup regular season as the #4 Team of the Year angler and competed in the prestigious Redfish Cup Championship in Morehead City, NC. All together, he has qualified for eight professional redfish tour championships and has placed in the Top 10 of regular season events fifteen times. In 2008, Eric appeared in the National Berkley Saltwater Commercial and campaign filmed in Cedar Key, FL. Recently, Eric has worked as a consultant for Wal-Mart and Pure Fishing/Berkley to help better serve their customers and provide a great selection of angling equipment in fishing departments all along the Gulf Coast.
He is also the creator and host of the “Hook, Line and Sinker Seminar Series”, the largest and most successful seminar of the Gulf Coast. Eric also writes many columns in the Pensacola News Journals, “Hook, Line and Sinker” as well as many other magazines, web blogs and popular publications. Recently, Eric has joined the Berkley Saltwater Seminar Tour. Throughout the year, Eric performs many other seminars at Bass Pro Shops, regional boat shows, fishing clubs and local fishing tournaments. He is also very involved in the local fishing community, organizations and charities, offering his time, services and knowledge whenever possible.

Eric feels incredibly fortunate to proudly represent some of the largest and most recognizable companies on the planet. He is currently and a longtime Pro Staff Angler for Yamaha Outboards, Skeeter Boats, Pure Fishing(Berkley, Saltwater Gulp!, Penn Reels and Rods, Abu Garcia, Berkley Havoc and Spiderwire), Hardy Fly Fishing, Bass Pro Shops, Patagonia and Oakley Eyewear.
Eric lives in Pensacola, Florida and spends a lot of time relaxing and fly fishing in Ambergris Caye, Belize. He enjoys traveling the world with friends, driving fast cars(Porsche motoring), Belize fly fishing, Iceland fly fishing, great food and drink, U2 concerts, challenge and competition, watching clients catch lots of fish, cooking, surfing, animals, beach volleyball, tennis, table tennis and chilling with friends.
