Guided Mr. Trevor Thomas this morning for a quick trip before I left for Atlanta. Trevor was interested in the learning about the recent topwater action and where to target these redfish and trout. Started at first light again and started getting huge strikes and caught nice fish immediately. The redfish and trout pounded the surface baits until 830am and then we switched to Gulp! Jerkshads. Fished four or five very productive areas and was back at the ramp by 1000am to beat the heat. Ended with 15-20 trout including some 4-5# fish as well as 10+ redfish between 23-26″. A short but very fun day. Headed to ATL for the weekend and then another packed schedule at Redfish U. next Monday-Friday. See everyone soon. No photos today as I forgot my camera and my cell phone camera is...

Guided Mr. and Mrs. Griffith this morning for some redfish and trout action. Phil commented early on the beautiful full moon setting and wondered if the bite was going to be difficult. My focus was to put them around as many fish as possible(a great full moon plan) and their job was to catch them. Both anglers were very impressive and caught multiple fish using a few proven techniques. Started out at first light and approached some great topwater banks to find them being pounded by 1-2′ chop. We tried the topwaters for a few minutes but I think the fish were pretty freaked out in the washing machine. Switched to Berkley Gulp! 5″ Jerkshads and began hammering fish. Plenty 0f 3-4# trout and Phil stuck the most perfect 27″ redfish I have seen in a while. Right at 27″ and 7.5#. He was thrilled! Changed locations to a more protected bank and found redfish and trout slicks everywhere. Stuck some more 3# trout and a few 4-5# redfish. Ended up making a very productive little milkrun and found fish nearly everywhere. Fished a bank I hadn’t visited in some time and absolutely smashed the redfish on a shallow sandy bottom. Lots of fun today and lots of action. All fish caught on Gulp! Jerkshads in camo and rootbeer rigged on Marsh Works jigheads. The Griffith took 3 Redfish and 8 big trout for a future cookout. Guided Mr. Ken Glasser and friend Bob this morning. Hit the water at 515am and hit the topwater trout and redfish. Lots of great action this morning with multiple acrobatic strikes and some large fish that didn’t find the hooks. Switched over to Gulp! Jerkshads around 800am and caught several more nice trout and some redfish that made it to the pilings. At 9am, we decided to run towards the beach in search of pompano and redfish. Fished for an hour with no pompano and zero redfish spotted. Not even the ladyfish were very active on the normally productive incoming tide. Made a quick decision and blasted off to some very clear flats in the Sound. It’s nice having a boat that will hit 70mph. Stuck a few decent redfish there and a few others missed. Ended with some sightfishing around some of the most uncooperative redfish and trout I’ve ever seen, but did catch a few redfish and trout in the end. Awesome early morning and a very difficult late morning. Ken and Bob kept a few speckled trout for...

Guided Mr. Barry Cowart and his son, Barry Jr. this morning. Today’s focus was early morning topwater action and introducing Barry Jr. to inshore fishing and our local redfish and speckled trout. Hit the water at 515am and watched fish explode on the baits all morning. Young Barry quickly gained confidence with a light-tackle spinning outfit and began walking the topwater like a pro. Stuck some nice trout in the 3-4.5# range and also hit some nice redfish in the same areas. Fished until around 1000am when the wind picked up and the water movement stopped. All fish taken on Skitterwalks and Berkley Gulp! 5″ Jerkshads. Barry and Barry took some fish home for dinner. I hope the guys learned alot today and can use this experience to catch many fish together in the future! Please click an image to enlarge and view...

Guided Mr. Phil Gambrel and his son, Paul, this morning. Got on the water at 530am and started with the topwaters for some redfish and trout action. Lots of action but very few hookups as many redfish were dropped but we did score some decent speckled trout. It was amazing how many redfish came unbuttoned! Ended up switching to Johnson 1/4oz. Gold Spoons and started catching fish. When the tide and wind died, so did the fishing. It was a real struggle in the late morning with many, many redfish in the vicinity but very few interested although we did catch a few blindcasting. All in all, a difficult late morning. All fish taken on Skitterwalks early and spoons late. Please click on an image to enlarge and view...
