Pensacola Fishing Charters at Redfish University. Lots of exciting news and charters over the last few days. Over the weekend, we travelled to Destin, FL. for our annual Bass Pro Shops Spring Classic seminars. Our Friday morning guide trip in Destin was postponed due to terrible weather but we carried on inside Bass Pro Shops with a total of six Redfish University seminars on Friday evening and all day on Saturday. They say that performing a single one hour seminar is the equivalent to an standard eight workday so according to my calculations, I worked two days straight without sleep. There’s nothing to it with great preparation and a solid grasp of the topics. Anyway, the Bass Pro Shops Spring Classic seminars went extremely well, we had huge crowds and thank you for all the very nice emails and compliments at the conclusion. Also, thank you for the nearly twenty Redfish University guiding fishing trips in the very near future! Looking forward to next year!
In other news, our 2013 Redfish University arsenal has arrived and our clients will be treated to some of the best fishing tackle and equipment in the world. In addition, to the staple Penn Conquer reels and Penn Legion rods, we have added a few new items to the Redfish University toolbag. Redfish University will now offer the Penn Regiment 7′ rods, the Abu Garcia Inshore Revo 30 spinning reels and the Abu Garcia Volatile 7′ rods. We were able to test these products last year and we are very proud to add fine products for our anglers at Redfish University. The normal Gulp! baits, Johnson Spoons, Spiderwire Ultracast Invisibraid, the new Berkley Havoc Grass Pig and a new fluorocarbon, Berkley Pro-Spec is now our choice for 10,15,20# fluorocarbon leaders.
For Redfish University guided and instructional trips, we were washed out last Friday morning in Destin and yesterday(Monday) here in Pensacola but we did perform an instructional trip this morning with some Bass Pro Shops seminar goers. We were met with a pretty steady winds this morning, overcast conditions and some really off-colored water from the recent heavy rains. A bit tricky, not impossible and this is exactly what clients pay to learn when they come to Redfish University. We scaled down our tackle, stuck exclusively to Gulp! and inserted plastic worm rattles in every single bait. Sound and scent in disgusting water in your best friend. We did find some areas with better water but in most areas, we caught fish by applying these basic techniques. Overall, 25 speckled trout hit the boat, some redfish in all sizes, a flounder and a small striper. Not a bad day considering the conditions. More Redfish University trips on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and then we will start figuring out how to fit in all the Bass Pro Shops trips next week. March is going to be nutty and Belize is the second week of March!! Thanks again, E Holstman
