A speckled trout and redfish beatdown at Redfish University-July 27, 2012

Well, the fishing continues to be outstanding here at Redfish University. This morning’s clients administered an absolute beatdown on the large speckled trout and redfish. Started with topwaters early to produce several speckled trout in the 3-5# range with some really nice 25-27″ redfish in the mix. We continued to toss Sebile Bongas until around 730am and just smashed both species on shallow flats. We didn’t need to measure any fish this morning for the cooler as nearly every speckled trout was over 20″ with several 23-25″ specks and one 7#, 31″ monster that enhaled a Berkley Gulp! Jerkshad on a shallow bank. The redfish were also extremely cooperative this morning with some great fish in the 24-30″ range on both topwater and Gulp! Found a few 25# jacks on the flats that unfortunately pounded our topwaters resulting in a 20 minute fight. A waste of time, but fun nonetheless. Our anglers took home an appropriate amount of fish for tonight’s fish fry and grilled redfish. We encourage, but do not require, Redfish University anglers to release all big speckled trout and upper slot redfish so many quality fish were release including 5 or 6 trout in the 4-5# range, the big monster 7# trout and some upper slot(26-27″) redfish. Packed until London departure next Wednesday and full for the rest of August. Five days(on purpose) off in 35 days and no relief in sight. Can’t complain!! Thanks Redfish University anglers! E...

An instructive and productive afternoon at Redfish University-March 29, 2011

Guided Mr. Frank Brueske and his son-in-law, Chris, this afternoon for some fishing in the northern reaches of the Pensacola Bay system. Frank spends most of his time in Escambia Bay so I really wanted to broaden his angling knowledge and locations. Started at 1:30pm with a soft easterly breeze and incoming water. Didn’t take long for Frank and Chris to stick some quality speckled trout on Gulp! baits and hardbaits. Travelled a bit further south and fished some very productive banks for redfish and found some cooperate fish including Frank’s 24″ fatty that crushed his Gulp! 5″ Jerkshad in camo. Fished several more areas and had success pretty much everywhere. Hopefully Frank and Chris have found some very productive areas for redfish and trout and will have much success in the future. Probably a cancelled trip tomorrow because of the weather but trips the rest of this week and next so I’ll have some more awesome Redfish University reports. April is almost filled but still have openings in May so book now to experience the wonder of Redfish University. E...

A father and son day to remember at Redfish University-March 18, 2011

Guided Steve and his  eight year old son Tyler this morning in search of speckled trout and some big redfish for Tyler to pull on. Found some nice trout around Gulf Breeze and then we hit some clear shallow flats where I was able to introduce Tyler to some very exciting sight fishing. This sand flat was full of redfish of all sizes and they were incredibly easy to catch which provided tons of fun for the fellas. Ended up picking up 15-20 redfish as they came by in singles-triples and Tyler even hooked several himself which resulted in an early afternoon nap. I know he’s hooked now but we’ll work on his endurance. All fish released and had a dead camera battery but I was sure to charge it thoroughly for Saturday morning’s trip. You”ll see what I mean. Windy, rainy and lots of fish at Redfish University-March 4-5, 2010

High winds nor rains can stop Redfish University anglers! Guided Lawrences again on Friday then Jeff and his son, Cody, and Saturday. Conditions weren’t exactly ideal with 30-35 mph winds and some rain but there’s nothing wrong with a little challenge. Both days were filled with lots of redfish and speckled trout including a nice 5.5 fat trout. Most of the redfish were in the 19-24″ range and were cooperating nicely before the front blew through. We switched to larger 1/4oz. Marsh Works jigheads because of the high winds but the Gulp! 5″ Jerkshads remained the bait of choice. Forgot the camera for Saturday so I’ll add more client photos later. Lots of trips coming up so hopely the fishing will continue to be outstanding at Redfish U. I think it will! E...
