Ended a long string of trips this morning by guiding my dad and Randy Hamilton, my website designer, for some more pompano and redfish. A free trip, of course! Having a big fish taco cookout at my house with friends and Kevin and Scott from Berkley on Friday night. Got on the water at 800am and headed towards the beach. My dad and Randy wanted to see what the new Yamaha VMax SHO 250 could do so we travelled at 67mph the entire way. Got there fast! Immediately found the pompano again concentrating around the same washouts and off-colored water. There appeared to be no pompano in the shallows and in the surfline so we jumped around to find the washouts. Picked up 10 pompano and kept 8 for the cookout. On the way back, we sight fished a few legal redfish and then a giant that my dad hooked. Ended the day with a small photo shoot for some better photos of my Yamaha SHO for the website. Back at the ramp at 1100am. Cleaned 16 pompano today and we had some great fillets for the tacos. Redfish University will spend the next three days on the Penn/Berkley Tour in Navarre, Gulf Breeze and Pensacola. Hope to see everyone there! Please click an image to enlarge and view...

Guided Jim Tully and Dustin Martinson for some redfish, trout and pompano fishing. Started out early with some topwater in shallow water and scored some decent trout and some medium redfish. Fished a few more areas but the bite was pretty slow so we took off to the beach to find some pompano. The pompano were very cooperative and we found them on washouts and deeper drops in the surf-line. Very hot action from 930am-1200 on the rising tide. We had some nice strikes near the boat as well as fish followed the bait on a quick retrieve and we were able to drop the bait to the fish. Pretty cool opportunities! Ended up with 22 pompano in a few hour period with lots of annoying ladyfish mixed in. Today, the fish were caught on Skitterwalks and Berkley Gulp! Jerkshads in the morning and all pompano were taken on orange pompano jigs. 15 Pompano were kept by Jim, Dustin and myself. Thanks for the pompano fellas and see ya soon! Guided Mark Battia and Dave this morning. Both are very talented anglers and although today was difficult at times, they really showed some solid skills. Started in the upper bays for some big trout. Found some very nice speckled trout pretty quickly with some redfish and flounder in the mix. The lack of mullet made things difficult but we stuck 12-15 very nice trout between 2-3.5#. Next, sightfishing was on our minds so we traveled to some very clear water. Immediately found big schools of redfish in shallow water and got to work. It may have been the full moon but these fish were pretty difficult at first but when the tide changed, they really started to bite. Mark and Dave were able to sight fish many redfish in shallow, clear water with some very nice casts and exciting strikes. Even a few double hookups were achieved!!! I enjoyed the awesome view from the poling platform as they picked off redfish along the bank. I hope to fish with both guys again very soon. Challenging but very enjoyable trip for us all. All fish caught on Berkley Gulp! Jerkshads and all redfish were sight fished with Johnson 1/4oz. Gold Spoons. Some trout, flounder and smaller redfish went home for the grill. After a short vacation, I’m back in town and ready to fish. Guided Mr. Rick Sanchez this morning. Rick is the proud new owner of a 2010 Pathfinder 22 and wanted to do some trout and redfishing. Hit the water at 600am and found lots of fish immediately. Found some very nice trout with some small redfish in the mix. Hit some other less productive areas and then got back on track with some big trout and some better redfish. Ended the day looking for those shallow water oversized fish and the jacks but none were found. Great morning of fishing with a fellow Maverick owner. All fish taken on Gulp! Jerkshads and Marsh Works 1/8oz. jigheads. All fish released. No photos today, too busy...
