Lots of Redfish and Trout at Redfish University-September 10, 2010

Full week of guiding and ready for a quiet weekend. Then back at it everyday next week as well. Guided Mr. Wayne Hughes and Jamison this morning for some early morning topwater speckled trout action and then some sight fishing for redfish. Left the ramp at 530am and ran way east to some very productive trout and redfish banks. The fish were much more active this morning on a quick falling tide and we had a great morning of nice speckled trout and redfish topwater explosions. Threw a few quality trout in the well and took off to find the redfish. It didn’t take long to boat several redfish between 24-35″. Found a large school of fish and at some points we all had redfish coming to the boat. These fish were concentrating around bait in 4-6′ of water and were readily taking Gulp! Jerkshads and Johnson Gold Spoons. The guys kept some fish to eat for dinner and we were off the water by 1000am. Packed schedule for the next few weeks at Redfish University but there are a few dates available the last week of September and also some in October. Redfish and Trout on the neap at Redfish University-September 9, 2010

Guided Mr. Ferd Saloman and Chris Saloman this morning in search of redfish and speckled trout. Fishing on the neap tides the last few months have made very little difference in fish production and today was no exception. Started at first light with some topwaters in shallow water. The redfish and trout were a bit sluggish with lots of chasers and short bites but several quality speckled trout and redfish found the hooks. Surprisely, it was the trout that were most uncooperate on some banks that normally produce 20-30 fish in a very short timeframe. Made some good decisions to fish a little deeper water around bait to find some great redfish between 25-31″. We also found some sharks at the end of the morning which were alot of fun to fight and rounded the trip out nicely. Redfish and trout were taken on Gulp! Jerkshads in camo, Johnson Gold Spoons and small Skitterwalks. Most fish release with some trout and redfish taken for dinner. Please click an image to enlarge and view...

Redfish, Trout then shark fishing at Redfish University-September 6, 2010

Guided Kyle and Brett Lawrence this morning. The brothers were looking for some redfish and trout action in the early morning hours then some shark fishing during the last part of the trip. Started at 515am and ran way east in search of redfish and trout. We found the bite to be a little slow in some areas that are normally outstanding. Made an adjustment and really started hammering the speckled trout with some redfish mixed in. Some fish took the topwaters and some on the Berkley Gulp! Jerkshads. After the early morning action, we shot off to the beach to do some sightfishing for sharks. Got on the trolling motor on the east and west side of Pensacola Pass but only saw one shark that was not at all interested. Cruised back inside the bay and checked a few more shallow flats for cruising sharks. Nothing. We even found it difficult to scrape up a few ladyfish and bluefish. Ended up hitting an area where I knew there were sharks of all sizes although we weren’t going to see them. We found plenty of sharks and the runs were extremely consistent. Ended up boating 8-10 sharks between 2-5 feet. Lots of fun on light tackle and had some very large fish on the 4/0 rod only to drop the hook. All fish released today. Trips all week with a few openings next week. Book now to experience Redfish University!! Please click an image to enlarge and view...

Quick topwater speckled trout trip at Redfish University-September 5, 2010

Guided Mr. Jim Stanford this morning for a very quick topwater trip. Started fishing at 545am and we were done at 900am in time for my traditional Sunday brunch at the Hilton. Lots of speckled trout and a handful of redfish were found in two very productive areas. Most of the trout were 16-22″ with some smaller ones mixed in. Also found a few oversized redfish in the shallows as well as a tarpon that just wouldn’t take a bait. All fish...

Lots of speckled trout but no redfish at Redfish University-September 3, 2010

Had a short topwater trip this morning back in Pensacola Bay. Took off at 515am and quickly ran east to some shallow flats. Great topwater action most of the morning but the fish were only on one stretch of bank. Found some very nice quality speckled trout and did hook one over-sized(32-35″) redfish only to have the hooks pull at the boat. That’s topwaters for ya!! Switched over to Gulp! Jerkshads as the sun rose with similar consistent success. Back at the ramp at 930am and kept 5 nice trout for dinner. **Saturday and Sunday are open this weekend because of a last minute cancellation so take advantage and experience Redfish University. In any event, it will be nice to have the weekend off!! E...
