Trip Two at Redfish University-April 20, 2010

For today’s second trip, I guided Steven Quarles. Steve just wanted to pull on fish this afternoon. No problem, right back to the redfish, jacks and the big Spanish mackerel. Topwater was fun and we also got some on Gulp! Jerkys. Finished the trip with some speckled trout and called it a day. All fish released. Dinner at Tuscan and back at it hard in the morning. Daily double at Redfish University-April 20, 2010

Two trips today!  Guided T and Rich this morning. These guys are very good anglers and lots of fun to fish with. Hit the redfish and trout first thing in the upper bays and then headed west to find some pompano. No pompano today so we looked for cobia for an hour. No luck. Headed inside to sight fish some redfish and then found a school of jacks again. Lots of fun on topwater and jigs with light tackle. Inconsistent pompano at Redfish University-April 19, 2010

Guided Mr. Bob Willice this morning. With some pretty decent success with the pompano last week and over the weekend, we hit the beach for some pompano fishing. Covered almost three miles of beach without a bite or a pompano sighted. Very inconsistent pompano fishing lately. Hit some redfish and Spanish mackeral on the way back. Also sight fished a few redfish inside the bay on some shallow flats. All fish caught on Berkley Gulp! Jerkshads and all fish released. Bob and I will hit the pompano again next Tuesday or Wednesday. Bob WILL catch some pompano from the boat on artificials!! Please click on an image to enlarge and view...

Lots of species today at Redfish University-April 17, 2010

Guided Dr. Roger Orth and friend Carl this morning. Roger wanted a mix of species today and we were up for the challenge. Started in the upper bays early with lots of  nice speckled trout and redfish. The flounder were pretty tough today. After a fish on nearly every cast, we jetted for the beaches to find some pompano. Roger stuck the first fish and then we boated another. A couple more bites and a few dropped hooks then we started catching Spanish mackeral. At the next location, we were greeted by some shallow water over-sized redfish as well as some huge schools of jacks. Lots of fun sight fishing these fish in shallow water on very light tackle. The Yamaha 250 SHO covered over 60 miles of water today very, very quickly. Always a plus for fishing time! All fish caught on Berkley Gulp! Jerkshads with Marsh Works jigheads and pink/orange pompano jigs. The Marsh Works jigheads were very impressive on the large jacks. Please click an image to enlarge and view...

The Yamaha VMax 250 SHO is now at Redfish University-April 16, 2010

Redfish University proudly presents the Yamaha VMax 250 SHO. We are thrilled to continue to offer our clients the absolute best in saltwater shallow water fishing!! We just raised the game with the Yamaha SHO! Just finished breaking in my new Yamaha 250 SHO on my 2009 Hewes 21 Redfisher. This engine is absolutely incredible and I’ve never experienced an outboard like it!! Because I only have 2.2 hours on it, I didn’t go full throttle but I did let it breathe. Shoots the hole in a blind. Hit 64.5 mph with plenty left at 5300-5400rpm with the trim a less than half. Because of my astonishment and my hair being on fire, I didn’t look at the flow but I will really push it tomorrow morning and I will have a better report. I did register 4.6mpg at 46 mph. Equally as impressive was the way the Hewes 21 Redfisher handled at 65mph. No walking, no wiggles. I will hit 70-72mph tomorrow morning, check the fuel flow at 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 73 and report back immediately. I will also have some more photos. Tomorrow morning, Dr. Roger Orth will be the first client at Redfish U. to experience the SHO.  Book your shallow water adventure now! This engine is thrilling!
